Maersk is a Danish conglomerate operating in transportation and energy. It has been the largest container ship operator and supply vessel operator in the world since 1996. The five core areas of its business are Maersk Line, APM Terminals, Maersk Oil, Maersk Drilling and APM Shipping Services. The Maersk Group is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, with subsidiaries and offices in more than 135 countries worldwide and around 89,000 employees. Founded in 1951, the company made a profit of $925 million in 2015.
