Hybrids are largely developed in tomatoes, onions, peas, cabbages, carrots, pumpkins, and squash, with a market share of 13.8%, 9.3%, 8.8%, 7.7%, 7.6%, and 7.4%, respectively. These are the most traded and most consumed vegetables in the region.
- In 2021, brassicas and unclassified vegetables held a major share of 26.3% and 26.0%, respectively, in the hybrid vegetable seed market. Hybrid vegetable seeds have improved shelf life traits, thus boosting their preference among vegetable growers.
