Heavy lifting: Demand from ports is rising, but imports are still weighing on revenue
The Overhead Crane Manufacturing industry has encountered subdued trends in most downstream markets and continues to lose ground to imports. Imports make up two-thirds of the total domestic demand for overhead cranes in 2022-23. The industry has faced negligible growth in the core manufacturing and mining markets and a slight deterioration in demand from port terminal operators. In contrast, the industry has continued to derive moderate sales to general distribution and warehousing companies. Some larger companies have entered lucrative arrangements to supply large-scale gantry and bridge cranes for landmark road and rail infrastructure projects.
Industry operators manufacture overhead cranes and gantry cranes. Overhead cranes include a hook-and-line mechanism that runs along a horizontal beam, which runs along two widely separated rails.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
