Mattress and bedroom furniture retailers have slept a little easier, with an upswing in demand helping sales surge in the wake of the pandemic. Lockdown periods and international travel bans created an initial hike in sales as consumers went shopping for new mattresses for family members returning home. Once the initial rush subsided, retailers enjoyed a further boost in sales brought on thanks to cashed-up consumers spending more time at home. Unable to travel overseas, consumers chose to splash surplus cash on creature comforts, including upgrades to mattresses and bedroom furniture. That's why industry revenue is expected to grow at an annualised 2.2% over the five years through 2023-24 to $3.8 billion, including a 0.3% dip in the current year.Right side of the bed: Growing numbers of employed people in Australia make revenue growth rosy
