Jammed: High internal and external competition is projected to constrain industry revenue
Companies in the Computer and Printer Leasing industry lease out a range of computers, tablets, laptops, photocopiers, printers and related products to households and businesses. Demand for industry products is influenced by product pricing, the number of businesses operating across the economy, household income and other factors. Product pricing deflation has had both positive and negative effects on the industry over the past five years. Industry revenue is projected to decline at an annualised 0.6% over the five years through 2021-22, to total $1.3 billion. This trend includes anticipated growth of 2.5% in the current year, as the industry is expected to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019-20 and 2020-21. The industry has displayed low revenue volatility over the past five years, due to mixed demand for some industry goods, and with tablet devices and laptops remaining popular among small businesses and households.
Industry companies lease computers, computer hardware, photocopiers, printers, scanners and other computer peripheral equipment to consumers, and corporate and government clients. Industry firms generally lease out these products on behalf of equipment manufacturers and wholesalers. Equipment manufacturers and wholesalers are therefore not usually included in the industry. While industry firms can provide finance leasing, this is not the main part of their business.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry's key players and their market shares.
