The area harvested under fruits in UAE is estimated to increase to 111.7 thousand hectare in 2023, witnessing a CAGR of 2% during the forecast period. The Consumers are willing to pay premium for an assortment of produces, offering fitness, quality, flavor and convenience. The major fruits grown in UAE are banana, grapes, strawberry, cherry and raspberry.

Bridging the Food Gap- Shifting from Grain to Meat

GCC government are increasing the agricultural production by acquiring the land abroad for cultivation. The GCC nations are acquiring farmlands abroad, especially in countries that have untapped land and water resources and nations which are geographically and culturally close. GCC governments is also encouraging adoption of modern irrigation and dry farming, which can sustainably cater for some of the local demand for agricultural products. A growing population and economic prosperity are driving the demand for agricultural produce in the various country of GCC. As income levels rise, GCC nations are matching a global shift from grains to animal produce. This transition in turn is putting an increasing drain on the land resources.
