Underperforming: COVID-19 restrictions and lockdown measures have reduced industry revenue

Revenue in the Performing Arts Operation industry has declined over the past five years. The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected the industry, as restrictions and lockdowns prevented shows from occurring. New Zealand's success in containing the COVID-19 outbreak has allowed operators to open shows in the current year. Despite this, performances have still been limited due to capacity restrictions and the lack of international acts to bolster demand. Industry revenue is expected to increase by 0.8% in the current year.
