Bowser blues: As fuel efficiency and electric vehicles power up, revenue's foot is off the gas
The performance of the Petroleum Product Wholesaling industry has been influenced by highly volatile trends in global crude oil prices and sales to downstream fuel retailers. The pricing practices of wholesalers have also come under severe scrutiny from the Central Government (Te Kawanatanga o Aotearoa). The passage of the Fuel Industry Act 2020 increases the regulation of the industry by the Commerce Commission to provide retailers and industrial users with access to more competitive wholesale prices.
Industry operators wholesale petroleum, diesel oil, LPG, fuel oil, jet fuel and other petroleum products. The industry excludes refining or retailing activities.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
