Digital textile printing is an inkjet method where the ink or printing colorant is applied on the fabric. This technology finds its major application in embellishing various styles of garments. The inks used in digital printing are formulated according to type of fiber (cotton, silk, polyester, and nylon). During the printing process, the fabric is fed into the printer using rollers, and ink is subsequently applied to the surface in the form of tiny droplets. The fabric is then finished by using heat and/or steam to increase the efficiency (some inks require washing and drying) of digital textile printing, enhancing the intensity of the color, and printing quality on that fabric. In synchronization with rapid technological changes, the textile industry is, in turn, shifting its preference toward digital prints rather than dyed fabrics.
