Ruxolitinib was developed by Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG. It is an orally bioavailable Janus-associated kinase (JAK) inhibitor with selectivity for subtypes JAK1 and JAK2. Its product is used for the treatment of medium and high-risk myelofibrosis in China. Ruxolitinib was firstly approved for listing in the United States in 2011. Its product JAKAVI was approved for listing in China in 2017 and was included in China's medical insurance in 2019. As of the first half of 2021, Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG is the only manufacturer in the Chinese Ruxolitinib market.
