Overview
The VIA framework looks at leadership as a cultural system aimed at cooperation: the interaction of leaders and organizational members around shared goals is an example of such a cultural system. The basic elements of a cultural system are patterns of beliefs and practices. VIA theory frames leadership as the pattern of beliefs and practices that produce direction, alignment, and commitment in a collective team or organization. VIA helps provide a way to conceptualize and understand leadership development as the development of a leadership culture, not just as the development of a leader.
- Vision, integration, and accountability are the outcomes of effective culture leadership.
- Vision = Agreement on goals that provide purpose to both the individual and the organization
- Integration = Coordination of work with full knowledge of the great system.
- Accountability = A feeling of ownership and a commitment to giving the extra effort for the good of the company
