The report includes a study of automotive flex-fuel engines, which focuses on the usage of blended fuels such as methanol-gasoline, ethanol-gasoline (E10 and above), biodiesel blends, pure ethanol, and pure biodiesel fuels. To generate power, flex-fuel engines used an alternate fuel comprised of a mixture of gasoline and methanol or ethanol, or other mixtures. Duel fuel automobiles, like flex-fuel vehicles, have an internal combustion engine that can run on a combination of fuels. Flex fuels burn cleaner than conventional fuels, resulting in fewer hazardous gas emissions, which is extremely beneficial from an anti-pollution standpoint.

While running on flex fuels, flex-fuel engines maintain their performance, and some even produce more torque and horsepower than when running on conventional fuels. Flex-fuel engines are in high demand around the world due to rise in commercial and passenger vehicle manufacturing, as well as improved technology. For instance, Ford Motor Company announced the launch of six new SuperEthanol E85 Compatible vehicles in France and Finland in January 2021. Furthermore, by reducing vehicle emissions, flex-fuel engines provide a long-term alternative to traditional engines.

The flex fuel engine market is segmented into fuel type, vehicle type, blend type, and region. Based on fuel type, it is divided into gasoline and diesel. On the basis of vehicle type, it is divided into passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. Based on the blend type, it is divided into E10 to E25, E25 to E85, above E85, and others. Region-wise, it is analyzed across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the rest of the world.Key players, including Cummins Inc., Ford Motor Company, Volkswagen AG, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, General Motors Company, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor Corporation, AB Volvo, and others hold major flex-fuel engine market share.
