During phase transitions, phase change materials are utilized to store latent heat, allowing for the temporary storage of mild or strong energy for later application. Solid-liquid, solid-solid, liquid-gas and solid-gas phase changes can all be used to achieve this latent heat transition. However, only solid-liquid phase transition is utilized in advanced PCMs on a commercial basis because other methods require a big volume and high pressure.
