Pressure is measured with a pressure transducer. It makes use of a sensor that can translate the pressure exerted on it into electrical signals. Then, these electrical impulses are transmitted to controllers or PLCs for processing and recording.  Strain gauges are used by pressure transducers to gauge the force acting on them. Deformation of the strain gauges causes a change in voltage to be produced.

Based on the magnitude of the voltage change, the pressure is measured.  In more sophisticated pressure transducers, capacitance or piezoelectric sensors are used in place of strain gauges. They are selected depending on the pressure sensor's operating range, working environment, and precision requirements. Fluid pressure during rest is measured via static pressure transducers. The most popular pressure monitoring tools are static pressure transducers.

The strain gauge (or sensor) within a pressure transducer deforms when a fluid applies pressure to it. Voltage changes as a result of this deformation. The pressure's intensity and variation's magnitude are correlated. The strain gauge returns to its initial shape as soon as the pressure is released. Non-static or dynamic pressure transducers include piezoelectric pressure gauges. Instead of measuring static pressure, they continuously monitor pressure variations.
