According to the different light-emitting media, lasers can be divided into solid lasers, gas lasers, fiber lasers, semiconductor lasers (commonly known as laser diodes) and chemical liquid lasers. According to the publisher's analysis, China needs to import a large number of lasers every year.
In 2021, China imported 179 million lasers (excluding laser diodes, the same below), up 2.76% year-on-year, with an import value of US$ 3.214 billion, down 11.80% year-on-year. From January to October 2022, China imported 0.86 billion lasers, down 46.42% year-on-year, with an import value of US$ 2.044 billion, down 26.26% year-on-year.
In 2018-2021, the average price of China's laser imports fell continuously. According to the publisher's analysis, in 2018, the average price of China's laser imports was US$26.66 each, and in 2021, the average price of China's laser imports fell to US$17.95 each. From January to October 2022, the average price of China's laser imports was US$23.78 each, up 37.62% year-on-year.
In 2021, China imported lasers from a total of 63 countries and regions. The publisher's analysis shows that by import volume, South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, Japan and Thailand are the main sources of laser imports into China. South Korea is China's largest source of laser imports. In 2021, China imported 0.96 billion lasers from South Korea, accounting for 53.79% of total laser imports in that year, with an import value of US$1.295 billion, or 40.28% of the total import value.
With the development of industrial automation, Internet of Things, medical and other industries, the demand for lasers in the Chinese market is on the rise, and the import of lasers in China is expected to continue to rise from 2023-2032.

Methodology
Background research defines the range of products and industries, which proposes the key points of the research. Proper classification will help clients understand the industry and products in the report.
Secondhand material research is a necessary way to push the project into fast progress. The analyst always chooses the data source carefully. Most secondhand data they quote is sourced from an authority in a specific industry or public data source from governments, industrial associations, etc. For some new or niche fields, they also "double-check" data sources and logics before they show them to clients.
Primary research is the key to solve questions, which largely influence the research outputs. The analyst may use methods like mathematics, logical reasoning, scenario thinking, to confirm key data and make the data credible.
The data model is an important analysis method. Calculating through data models with different factors weights can guarantee the outputs objective.
The analyst optimizes the following methods and steps in executing research projects and also forms many special information gathering and processing methods.
1. Analyze the life cycle of the industry to understand the development phase and space.
2. Grasp the key indexes evaluating the market to position clients in the market and formulate development plans
3. Economic, political, social and cultural factors
4. Competitors like a mirror that reflects the overall market and also market differences.
5. Inside and outside the industry, upstream and downstream of the industry chain, show inner competitions
6. Proper estimation of the future is good guidance for strategic planning.
