Brazil, officially the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in both South America and the Latin American region. It is the world's 5th largest country, both by geographical area and by population. It is the largest Lusophone country in the world, and the only one in the Americas. Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Brazil has a coastline of 4,655 miles. It is bordered on the north by Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and the French overseas region of French Guiana; on the northwest by Colombia; on the west by Bolivia and Peru; on the southwest by Argentina and Paraguay and on the south by Uruguay. Numerous archipelagos form part of Brazilian territories, such as Fernando de Noronha, Rocas Atoll, Saint Peter and Paul Rocks, and Trindade and Martim Vaz.
Brazil is estimated to have a population of 215.157 million in the year 2023 and is expected to reach 221.948 million by 2027, increasing at a CAGR of 0.78%.

Brazil’s unemployment rate was 13.775% of the total labor force in 2020. Despite the slowdown in global economic activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployment in Brazil decreased by 5.18% and reached 13.2% in 2021. Unemployment is further estimated to decrease by a CAGR of 5.35% and reach 9.49% of the total labor force in Brazil by 2027.

This resulted in Brazil's government’s net lending/borrowing being negative at BRL 562.331 billion in 2022 indicating that not enough financial resources were made available by Brazil's government to boost economic growth.
The current account balance for Brazil was negative USD 27.473 billion for the year 2022 and is expected to further decrease at a CAGR of 12.8% and reach negative USD 50.164 billion by 2027.
