Report on German Twitch streamers in the gaming & non-gaming sectors
Twitch is one of the largest live-streaming platforms in the world. Founded in 2011 from the streaming portal Justin.tv and taken over by Amazon in 2014, Twitch now has 30 million visitors per day worldwide. In Germany, there are currently around 4 million users, and the trend is rising.
Although gaming is still the dominant offering on the live streaming platform, the Twitch landscape is also becoming more diverse in Germany. What does the portfolio of streamers look like? What are the demographic characteristics, how many followers do the channels have, how many views are there per stream, how many hours do they stream, how long have their channels existed?
For the first time, the study provides a complex overview of the structures of the German Twitch landscape and the streaming actors.
Methodology
The basic population of the analysis consists of German-speaking streamers in Germany who have at least 50,000 followers and are included in Twitch's affiliate or partner programme. In addition to Twitch and the social media channels, various analysis sites such as Nindo, Social Blade, Sully Gnome and Twitchtracker serve as the data basis. In addition, the analyst's own desktop research was carried out.
The data was collected, merged and analysed from 14.12.2021 to 15.07.2022.
