The global electric fuse market is envisioned to garner $4.5 billion in 2021, and is estimated to reach $9.3 billion by 2031 at a CAGR of 7.7% from 2022 to 2031.

An electric fuse is a type of electrical safety device that limits current in a circuit and protects the source from overcurrent. These fuses are made of silver, copper, and tin alloys, which melt at high temperatures. Fuse and circuit breaker have long been used as important safety devices, and electrical utility companies regard them as superior equipment against high voltages.

Mechanical drives, boilers, furnaces, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, and other energy-intensive industries consume massive amounts of fuel and electricity. Previously, non-electric energy sources were used in fossil fuel-based boilers, IC engines, and furnaces, among other things. Industries are electrifying gradually in order to transition to a low-carbon future and ensure reliable operations. This trend is especially noticeable in developed regions such as Europe and North America, where governments are actively pursuing carbon-neutral targets. Even in other countries, industries have begun to electrify in order to save money, resulting in increased investments.

Electric fuses have been a crucial part of circuit protection equipment for many years in end-user industries. However, there has been a noticeable shift away from electric fuses in the low-voltage market in favor of miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) and molded case circuit breakers (MCCBs), which are more dependable, safe, reusable, sensitive, have a better user interface, and don't require manual intervention. Protective relays, MCBs, MCCBs, and rising investments in smart grid vision are projected to constrain market expansion.

Several countries around the world have insufficient power infrastructure to meet the quality and bulk power movement standards required for various operations. Technologies developed in the early 1940s are now reflected in ageing electric infrastructure. According to the US Department of Energy, 70% of transmission and transformer lines are over 25 years old, and 60% of circuit breakers are over 30 years old. Companies are focusing on modernizing or transforming such infrastructure to support the new era of electric technology while also maintaining reliability. As a result, the circuit breaker and fuse market will undoubtedly benefit from inadequate electric power infrastructure.

The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the global industrial sector, as well as supply networks for goods and materials, which had a global impact on the electric fuse industry. Economic contractions caused by a cessation of investments from a variety of end-use industries are primarily to blame for this downturn. Governments and international organizations around the world, on the other hand, play a critical role in investing in the renewable energy sector. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), investments in renewable energy sources will account for the majority of money spent on power generation by 2023, totaling more than USD 350 billion. During the pandemic, these trends are likely to fuel market expansion.

The key players profiled in this report include ABB Ltd., Siemens AG, Schneider Electric SE, Fuji Electric Co., Ltd, Eaton Corporation Plc, Littelfuse, Inc., Mersen S.A, Bel Fuse Inc., SCHURTER AG, and Conquer Electronics Co., Ltd.
