The global M&A market in Q2 2023 witnessed deals worth $602 billion, a growth of 28% compared to the $469 billion deal value in Q1 2023. In terms of deal volume, there was a 3.3% fall from 8,275 deals in Q1 2023 to 8,001 M&A deals in Q2 2023. The basic materials led the M&A deal activity, with 1,611 deals worth $212 billion recorded in Q2 2023. Most sectors saw a year-on-year decline in deal activity in Q2 2023. This quarter recorded 124 mega deals (defined as any deal valued at more than $1 billion), up from 85 in Q1 2023.
