Geothermal Well Construction offers well-construction solutions to unleash the enormous potential of heat trapped underneath the Earth's crust - and provides a roadmap for innovators to apply technologies and methodologies to reduce the cost of well construction for geothermal applications. This reference provides a toolbox of proven drilling plans for geothermal wells and explores innovative ideas and technologies that have evolved to exploit geothermal power for marked improvements in energy generation. The book progresses from origins of geothermal energy, extraction, the evolution of tools, design basics, requirements, and environmental considerations to provide the understanding needed to minimize costs of geothermal well construction, facilitating incremental increases in clean energy and power generated by geothermal resources and ultimately reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Geothermal industry professionals, energy engineers, well design engineers, tool design engineers, and students will find, in this book, a welcomed resource that aggregates approaches, tools and technologies into one toolkit that can be utilized in geothermal well construction applications.
