These sanctions were the fourth sanctions-related executive order by President Obama with respect to the situation in Ukraine.

Since 2014, the U.S. has imposed several rounds of sanctions on Russia, including the additional pressure placed on Russia in early 2017 when the Trump administration unveiled sanctions on more than three dozen additional individuals and organizations that have participated in the country’s incursion in Ukraine.
