Equinor ASA (formerly Statoil) is a Norwegian multinational energy company with operations in over 37 countries across the world. Equinor is headquartered in Stavanger, Norway and has a primary focus on oil and gas production. The company currently employs over 22,000 workers globally. Equinor was originally founded as a private limited company by the Government of Norway in 1972 before its privatization and transformation into a public limited company in 2001.
