Hydraulic mining is a form of mining that uses high-pressure jets of water to dislodge rock material or move sediment. In the placer mining of gold or tin, the resulting water-sediment slurry is directed through sluice boxes to remove the gold. It is also used in mining kaolin and coal. Hydraulic mining originated out of ancient Roman techniques that used water to excavate soft underground deposits.
Hydraulic mining is used for a variety of materials, including precious metals like gold, industrial minerals like kaolin, and coal. It is used in areas where there is limited access to other types of mining, such as in mountainous or remote areas. It is also used to recover minerals from tailings, or waste material left over from other mining processes.
Some companies in the hydraulic mining market include Joy Global, Sandvik, Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Atlas Copco. Show Less Read more
