The Ignition Interlock Device (IID) market is a subset of the automotive safety industry. IIDs are devices that are installed in vehicles to prevent drivers from operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The device requires the driver to blow into a breathalyzer before the vehicle will start. If the breathalyzer detects a certain level of alcohol, the vehicle will not start. IIDs are typically installed in vehicles as part of a court-ordered sentence for a DUI conviction.
IIDs are becoming increasingly popular as a way to reduce the number of drunk driving incidents. Many states have passed laws requiring IIDs to be installed in vehicles for certain DUI convictions. This has led to an increase in demand for IIDs, as well as an increase in the number of companies offering IIDs.
Some companies in the IID market include Smart Start, Intoxalock, and Guardian Interlock. Show Less Read more
