It is a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor, meaning it works by blocking the action of a certain protein that helps platelets in the blood stick together and form clots. It is used to treat unstable angina, non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, and coronary artery bypass grafting. It is also used to prevent blood clots in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. Integrilin is available in both intravenous and subcutaneous forms.
