Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce anxiety, and by repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing that anxiety. OCD is treated with a combination of psychotherapy and medication. Drugs used to treat OCD include selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), tricyclic antidepressants, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). SSRIs are the most commonly prescribed medications for OCD, as they are generally well-tolerated and have fewer side effects than other medications. The OCD drug market is highly competitive, with a number of major pharmaceutical companies offering products. These include Eli Lilly, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, and Novartis. Other companies, such as Lundbeck, Otsuka, and Sunovion, also offer products for the treatment of OCD. Show Less Read more
