Ranexa (ranolazine) is a prescription medication used to treat chronic angina, a type of chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It works by improving the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle. Ranexa is a member of the cardiovascular drug class known as anti-anginals. It is used to reduce the frequency and severity of angina attacks, and to improve exercise tolerance in people with chronic angina.
Ranexa is available in tablet form and is taken twice daily. It is usually taken with food to reduce the risk of side effects. Common side effects include dizziness, headache, nausea, and constipation.
Ranexa is marketed by Gilead Sciences, Inc. in the United States and by Menarini Group in Europe. Other companies involved in the market include AstraZeneca, Bayer, and Pfizer. Show Less Read more
