Sodium-24 is a radioactive isotope of sodium used in Nuclear Medicine and Radiopharmacology. It is produced through the bombardment of sodium-23 with neutrons in a nuclear reactor. Sodium-24 is used in medical imaging and therapy, as it emits positrons which can be detected by a PET scanner. It is also used in research to study the metabolism of sodium in the body.
Sodium-24 is available from a number of companies, including Eckert & Ziegler, Nordion, and IsotopX. It is also available from research institutions such as the National Institute of Radiological Sciences in Japan and the Institute of Nuclear Medicine in the UK. Show Less Read more
