Bourbon Whiskey is a type of whiskey made primarily from corn and aged in charred oak barrels. It is a type of American whiskey, which is made from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new, charred oak barrels. The remaining ingredients in the mash bill can include rye, wheat, and malted barley. The whiskey must be distilled to no more than 160 proof and aged in the barrel at no more than 125 proof. The whiskey must also be aged for at least two years and bottled at no less than 80 proof.
Bourbon Whiskey has a distinct flavor profile, with notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak. It is often used in cocktails, such as the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan. It is also popular as a sipping whiskey.
